as we move into the 25th anniversary of the macau university of science and technology (must), the school of business of must (msb) is pleased to co-host a half-day forum in collaboration with the division of public policy (ppol) of the hong kong university of science and technology (hkust) to highlight the belt and road initiative’s implications. the event facilitates a confluence of academia and diplomacy, featuring distinguished speakers from both sectors who will share insights into the initiative's historical and prospective influence on global and regional developments.

established in 2000, the school of business is one of the first four faculties in must and is also the largest one in the university. in july of 2023, msb earned aacsb (the association to advance collegiate schools of business) international accreditation and is positioned among the top 6% of business schools globally. established in 2017, ppol is devoted to generating first-class academic and societal insights into the policy dimensions of new scientific and technological discoveries. this forum marks the beginning of long-term commitments between msb and ppol to transform public policy research to a new level with hong kong – macao collaboration.

as the year 2024 marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the people’s republic of china and the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the macao sar, it is timely and essential to conduct a systematic review of the development of the bri by combining the perspectives of academia and government. the event aims to explore the opportunities created by the bri and help macao to better integrate into the overall development of the country.
